Universal Studios Singapore - First Visit

After more than 4 years since the opening of Universal Studios Singapore (USS), finally I went there to join my sister and her son's first visit as well. The one day pass ticket costs SGD74 which is much similar to that of Hong Kong Disneyland's one day pass.

In front of the park entrance, a huge live Universal Globe is rotating slowly with mist spray all around. You can snap photo there without any pass ticket as it is not part of the paid area of USS park. You can hear the background soundtrack from universal movies here. It really warms you up before your journey begins in USS park.

Hollywood is one of the seven theme zones located right after the entrance. Here, you should get the USS guide and timetable of the day first so as to plan your USS tour in the most efficient way. You don't want to miss one or more popular attractions which we did in our first visit.

From Hollywood, we explored the park in clockwise direction based on the park layout in the guide. I was late that my sister already took Madagascar boat ride and watched Far Far Away Shrek 4D movie. I skipped Madagascar theme zone and headed for Shrek 4D adventure movie.

Shrek 4D adventure is a very enjoyable movie. You watch the short movie of Fiona being abducted by Lord Farquaad's guard and finally rescued by Shrek with Donkey and his Fire Breathing Dragon in 3D google vision plus rocking chair, water sprinkles, cold breeze, and some creepy touches on your feet. Oops..spoiler here.

Far Far Away has two more attractions; Donkey Live stage performance which we missed and Enchanted Airway junior rollercoaster which my nephew is afraid to ride.

Our next stop is The Lost World theme zone consisting of two main area, namely Waterworld and the amazing Jurassic Park. A 20-year-old movie by Steven Spielberg becomes reality in USS. The enormous statues of dinosaurs right in front of Jurassic Park are breathtaking. We rode one of the most popular attractions, Rapid Adventure here. Expectedly, we queued for 60 minutes. You will get soaked with water, most from the fall at the hydroelectric plant (pic above). Get a SGD4 poncho to minimize the "damage".

We skipped another 3 attractions here; Dino-Soarin which is too "kiddo", Canopy Flyer which my nephew is afraid of too and Amber Rock Climb which is too extreme and no crowd at all.

Next, we were in Ancient Egypt. We had Treasure Hunt ride and the scariest dark indoor rollercoaster. Oops..we didn't know The Revenge of the Mummy is a high speed rollercoaster until we reached the front line of the queue. I was terrified too during the ride; it goes up, down and backward too at high speed.

Three more theme zones to be continued...
