The Realms of Heaven, Hell and Within

The commencement of seventh month of lunar calendar today marks the ghost month in Chinese belief. Ghost and spirits of the deceased including deities are believed to make visits to the realm of the living in this month.

Deceased spirits are sent to a series of halls in Hell. The First Hall in the Hells, judgements are conducted and punishment are meted. These souls will be punished and have their karma reduced. If souls are able to balance their bad deeds with good ones, they will be sent to the Tenth Hall to await rebirth. Those who have done more bad deeds will have their sins shown before them in the mirror and thereby sent to the Second Hall to await punishment.

Silent Humiliation and Injured Pride

Silent humiliation and injured pride happens when one keeps to walk albeit having a fine pair of wings to launch a flight into the unlimited sky.

When one keeps to stay low profile to minimize one's pride to further damage.

When one keeps to say yes albeit one know well the big picture.

When such scenario and act carried out for too long, one tends to become a lower self of status and worthiness.

Self lying and disguise makes one lose in the maze of life. Passion that has been extinguished. Dream which have faded into thin air.

All By Myself

When I was young
I never cared for anyone
And makin dream was just for fun
Those days are gone

Livin alone
I think of all the people Ive known
But when I think of the telephone
Nobodys home

All by myself
I wanna be
All by myself forever
All by myself
I wanna live
All by myself forever

Hard to be sure
Some times I feel so secure
And love so distant and obscure
Remains the cure

All by myself
I wanna be
All by myself forever
All by myself
I wanna live
All by myself forever

Friday Ecstasy

I am excitedly looking forward to Friday and my last day probably next Monday. My excitement and worry clouded my mind that I was believing that today is Thursday. Yes, tomorrow will be Friday and I would have weekend soon for some pre-celebration of my coming last day. Everyone would get the biggest shock once I am no longer there. Happy, excited, and relaxed.

Yet the truth, I am still living on Wednesday today. It's okay that I would have three more working days to go since the new assignment requires at least three days to complete. That must be my last assignment; coincidentally that kind of assignment is my favourite job. So good and relaxing.

When I was working on it, my mind is so concentrated and active. When came lunch hour, my mind ran wild beyond imagination as if it was intoxicated with alcohol and ecstasy. Into late afternoon, my mind never felt tired yet I felt relaxed while working on my assignment. Life would be great if but the truth is not.

Yet why am I having second thought of abandoning my plan for a major turning point in my life on 5th August 2011?

Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum (新加坡佛牙寺龙华院), Chinatown

I came across a Buddhist temple when I was touring around Chinatown streets. It is better known as Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum. Built on Tang Dynasty architectural style, this 5-storey temple houses the relic of Buddha which had been discovered in a collapsed stupa at Bagan Hill, Mrauk-U, Myanmar.

McDonald's new Chilli Chicken McGrill; whole chicken thigh meat, grilled to tender perfection. Then marinated to add fuel to flames, and all topped off in a hot sourdough bun. It's a taste made fiery and better for Singapore. Try it today!

Charsiew & Roasted Pork Rice @Lee Kheong Roasted Delicacy, Chinatown

Lee Kheong Roasted Delicacy famous for charcoal roasted duck and pork

Lee Kheong Roasted Delicacy Menu
Menu: Roasted duck $34, charsiew & roasted pork $32 per kg, duck rice $3,
duck noodle $3.50, charsiew & roasted pork rice $3.50, charsiew pork rice $3,
roasted pork rice $3 and wanton noodle $3

The best charsiew and roasted pork I ever have in Singapore. The ultimate recipe is using charcoal for the roasting process. Now do I realize that the roasted pork, I usually have at my place, can only be rated 5/10 against this dish in Chinatown. The smell and taste of the roasted pork is so tantalizing. It doesn't need any seasoning sauce as used by many other stalls to bring out the delicious taste of the dish. Love it so much.

Chinatown (牛車水), Singapore

Today I decided to tour around Chinatown area as I had never really explored the town of Chinese neighborhood in the past 3 years staying in Singapore. Known as Chinatown (唐人街) among foreigner and non-Chinese Singaporean and better known as Niu Che Shui (牛車水), which literally means Bull Cart Water, among Chinese, Chinatown is enriched with Chinese culture especially in terms of architectural building.

Just above the underground Chinatown Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station, there are two major shopping complex namely Chinatown Point and People's Park Complex. Before I started my exploration into the Chinatown street, I had my brunch at a nearby hawker stall famous for charcoal-roasted duck and pork. It is none other than Lee Kheong Roasted Delicacy located at Blk 32 #01-1040 New Market People's Park. The roasted pork rice I ordered is simply the best in Singapore.

Along Pagoda, Trengganu, Temple and Smith Street, there are stalls of variety food, beverages, souvenirs, and clothes. Most of items are cheaper than that of being sold in shopping complex. From my observation, it seems like there is a high percentage of elderly with roughly quarter of them who are wheel-chaired in Chinatown.

Apart from flea markets, there is a Buddha Tooth Relic Temple and Museum situated to the south of Chinatown area. I will blog about it in details later. As Chinatown street is the most liveliest during Chinese New Year, I am looking forward to visit this town on Chinese New Year 2012.

Am I insomniac habitually or sickeningly?

The last two weeks, I slept around 2am and woke up at 7.07am. 8pm onwards, I would turn on my Samsung netbook to surf internet; watched youtube, played Restaurant CIty, searched jobstreet/jobsdb/monster jobs, checked yahoo/gmail mail, browsed facebook most recent status, read blogs of junfook, shiiteck, xiangcool, smashpop, kennysia, tianchad, onlywilliam, simonhar and michaelooi. Came 1.15am, I would be on bed, putting on my earphone and blasted out chinese ballads, japanese pops and korean original soundtrack before I dozed off around 2am.

Strange but I did not feel the urge to sleep at work in the afternoon as usual. Yet I think at extreme; how to piss off my superior, how to break a contract, and how to erase my presence in the world so that no one know my existence ever. With these symptoms, I strongly believe that lacking of sleep will drive people insane. Go back to sleep now!

Desire to Change, Dare to Change

For nine months I have been ventured into a new field of job. Most of the time, I enjoy the nature of my work scope. Learning new thing at accelerated learning curve is always exciting and motivating.

I thought I would not need to go through a simple lifestyle under a tight spending budget for more than six months. Yet, I don't get the expected salary increment nor do I get a successful transfer to a permanent position with significantly better benefits. Consequently, the remaining 15 months of services under the job contract would be likely a bleak life to me.

I can't help to turn a blind eye now to the fact that the bad reputation of the agent in terms of staff welfare and benefit is definitely a "coffin nail" to my dream of a better lifestyle. I miss the day when I can spend prudently without worrying that my monthly cash flow becomes negative.

I was overwhelmed with discontentment that I strongly have urge to defect from my agent by early next month. Yet I still have a second thought due to fear from unknown repercussion of voiding the job contract even though several of my colleagues, employed under similar contract, have long been missing in action for greener pastures.

I feel that there is nothing much of help to get a lifestyle, which I have been missing so much, by remaining under the current circumstances. My hope of a successful transfer of which I can get rid of the contract and boost up my lifestyle, was dashed two months earlier.

I want to remain positive and professional throughout my remaining service with my current client before things could turn awry due to my pent up feeling of dissatisfaction over time.

I want to change! Be brave! 5th August 2011 final countdown to another major turning point of my life.

AutoCAD 2011 Associate Certification

I took an online Autodesk exam for AutoCAD 2011 Associate certification with a sponsored fee of S$100. A set of 30 questions with multiple choices, which either requires one selection or multiple answers for each questions, must be completed within a duration of sixty minutes. Although the passing criteria is 22 correct answers and above, the last test taken by 10 candidates was apparently so hard that only 2 of them passed.

Surprisingly, the test turned out to be rather easy. Feeling glad that I am certified now.

Regina Jackson: History has lessons to teach us about first encounters between civilizations. As a rule the less advanced civilization is either exterminated or enslaved. I'm thinking of Pizarro and the Incans, Columbus and the Native Americans, and the list goes on. Unfortunately in this case, the less advanced civilization is us.
Michael Granier: This is the representative of an extra-terrestrial civilization. This is the most important discovery in the history of Mankind!.
Regina Jackson: It may well be the last discovery in the history of Mankind.

Klaatu: We can't risk the survival of this planet for the sake of one species.
Helen Benson: What are you saying?
Klaatu: If the Earth dies, you die. If the human race dies, the Earth survives. There are only a handful of planets capable of supporting complex life. This one can't be allowed to perish.

Review:
Finally it comes to the end with the final part 2 installment of much anticipated Harry Potter series. Indeed the part 2, which offers tons of adrenalized actions and climaxes, does not disappoint us as much as the boring and emotional part 1 last year. The duel between Lord Voldermort with thousands of his followers and Hogwarts is terrifyingly awesome. Actions aside, Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2 reveals touching story of Severus Snape in connection to Lily Potter and Albus Dumbledore.

Watch out for at least two disgusting scenes though; a fraction of Lord Voldermort soul depicted as premature foetus soaked with blood and the deadly attack scene of Voldermort's snake, Nagina on Severus Snape. The ending set on 19 years later after the demise of Lord Voldermort is hilariously entertaining as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley are shown as adults with children. Kill myself with a curse "Avadra Kedavra"!

A random joke told by Jin Ho to Gae In as part of his "love" lecture in Personal Taste (개인의 취향). Lame yet hilarious.

A lorry loaded with apple and peach makes an emergency brake to avoid hitting a dog on the road. Guess what is dropping as a result?

Answer: "SPEED" Highlight space within " " for the answer.

Journey to Spice Up Your Life - Elson Soh (苏奕铨) & Royal Artistes - The Final Showcase 9 July 2011

This is my first time being to Singapore Expo and attending a concert at The Max Pavillion, Singapore. We arrived at the The Max Pavillion around 7pm. The organiser's staffs were already there to permit ticket holders to enter the concert hall which can accommodate to 6000 people. One hour before the scheduled 8pm concert as I had expected, there were very few people around the entrance.

To kill time, we strolled around at other area in Expo. Indeed, this place is as huge as an airport and definitely larger that Suntec City Convention Centre. Quite numbers of activities and exhibitions were going on here such as Robinsons Sales, wedding dress exhibition and a live singing band at the centre of food and beverage area.

At 7.45pm, we went back to The Max Pavillion. The scene of crowd at the entrance did stir up our excitement. I expected 3000 people would be there that night for Elson Soh's debut concert. At 8pm, the show hasn't started yet and the front seat zone was not even half full with audiences. I was perplexed why people turned up so late as it was publicly announced that the front seat zone tickets are already sold out. By 8.30pm, there were about 2000 people seated with some rows of vacant seat. The concert started soon after with powerful cheering from the audiences. William Soh, who is Elson's manager, hosted the concert.

Elson didn't show up until the rest of Royal Artistes had showcased their performances which were just fine, not great yet not bad. Elson kicked off his debut concert with a lively song "I'm In Love With It" which I like it very much. It was the same song I heard when I first saw him in public appearance at Chinatown on New Year 2011. Next, Elson sang his promotional song for Go Green Campaign, Eco Music Challenge 2010. He belted out the rest of his original ballad songs; Every Minute (每分鐘),Our Promise(说好一定要幸福),Say You Love Me (说一次你爱我),If Only You Knew, and You'll Never Be Mine.

As Elson fans shouted out "Elson, I love you" every now and then, he surprisingly hit out his song quote "说一次你爱我(Say You Love Me)". It definitely drove his fan crazy echoing again their shouts. It was amazing to see him perform "If Only You Knew", "You'll Never Be Mine" and LeeHom's "All The Things You Never Knew (你不知道的事)while playing the baby piano. Exclusively for his Malay fans, Elson even wrote and performed his first Malay song "Cinta Pada Mu (Loving You)" in collaboration with Love Hunters. Guest artistes, Lorraine Tan and J.Ai were also invited to perform on the stage.

Elson's vocal range is indeed incredible throughout his showcase. I personally prefer his lower range of vocal notes which has similarity to Ah Du (阿杜)'s. As Elson prepared for his final song, Malaysian Penangite singer cum composer, Bryan Teoh (张永佳) performed "Absence (缺席)" live with the baby piano. His vocal performance is as good as Elson's. Elson ended his two-and-a-half-hour debut concert with super-high "Spice Up Your Life". As the concert started late at 8.30pm, it ended around 11pm. By then, quarter of the audiences had already left.
