In the end of Aliens (year 2179), the Atmosphere Station blew up by its own nuclear reaction due to overheating as the primary exchanger pipes were ruptured during the first assault between the colonial marines and aliens in Hadley's Hope facility, LV-426. The few survivors (Ellen Ripley, Corporal Dwayne Hicks, Newt and Bishop) escaped from the nuclear blast and entered hypersleep for the return to Earth on U.S.S. Sulaco spaceship.

The Alien Queen had left several eggs/superfacehugger on Sulaco before being ejected into space by Ripley. The alien facehuggers impregnated the survivors in their hypersleep tubes causing fire on Sulaco. The survivors were sent into escape pod which was then ejected from the burning Sulaco and crashed into Fiorina Fury 161 in the event of Alien 3 (1992 third installment of Alien films).
