I can't help to say:
A Chinese Ghost Story 2011 starring Liu Yi Fei and Louis Khoo is a good remake of 1987 original film (Leslie Cheung and Joey Wong). However the remake does not show what I expect of at least namely, the horrific huge tongue of demon tree chasing after its victim, flying scene of Xiao Qing with her powerful thrust of her long scarf, and her epic portrait with sentimental yet creepy soundtrack.

Nevertheless this remake comes with a fresh love story never been told before between Xiao Qing, the wolf spirit and Yan Chi Xia, the demon hunter. The use of CGI is impressive yet fails to bring in the creepy feeling. The only scene I feel terrified is the introduction of demon tree with her earlier fatal duel scene with the Taoist hunters. The CGI of her powerful hair thrust killing her opponents is amazing and terrific. Ironically, the 1987 original film without the privilege of today CGI technology is scarier than the remake.
